Italian breakfast

I had to write about this.  Italians know what the perfect breakfast is.  I'm so happy I married an italian and get to eat sweets every morning for breakfast, along with a perfect cappuccino.  Okay, this has always cracked me up, check out the photo below:  it's a picture on the back of a package of italian cookies.  It's so funny, it says, basically for kids to have 8 cookies, a cappuccino, and a pear, that makes a perfectly balanced breakfast!
I love it, love the italians, they know what's good!

Incoming Mail

I have been so spoiled lately, by all my wonderful, dear friends, who have surprised me with special goodies! I just wanted to share with y'all my latest surprises in the mail.

Katie, sent me this lovely paint brush holder, that she sewed, it matches my coastal theme.  Along, with a packet of flower seeds.  What a special surprise and it holds my brushes perfectly and great for traveling!!  Thank You Katie!!!

My friend, Janice sent me some Cafe Du Monde coffee from New Orleans.  It's the coffee with chickory in it.  I had always wanted to try it, along with beignets!  Well, it was the perfect evening, I received the coffee and that evening, we went to Huey's, downtown Savannah(New Orleans restaurant), and ordered beignets for dessert, they were out of this world!!!!  If you have never had fresh beignets, you must try them!  It was like tasting heaven.  They were hot and fresh with powdered sugar.

Yesterday, I received a letter and all kinds of paper goodies from Sally(Queenie and the Dew), she is so sweet.  I found out, we have a lot in common!  She sent me some tea and a postcard from Cambridge, England, it brought back a lot of memories for me, since I used to work in Cambridge.

Well, it's been a great week of good mail days!  Thank you dear friends!

Things I've received lately in the mail

I had a great week, it was our wedding anniversary and I received 2 packages from 2 very special people in my life.  The first package is from my exchange student, who's like a daughter to us, from Pakistan.  It arrived on our anniversary, so how appropriate.  It was a huge box, full of goodies.  She put letters in it, jewelry, 2 pairs of shoes, a beautiful sweater, home goods, some knick-knacks and a sweater and hat for my husband, oh, and 2 necklaces for the cats with their names on it.  Here are some pictures.

The end of the week, I received another package from my dear friend and neighbor back in Washington.  She is so creative and talented.  She sent me a journal that she made, along with a box and mini cards, also, that she hand-made.  She also, sent me some other non-hand made goods, such as tea and napkins.  You can check out her Etsy site at:  www.psloveyoudesigns.etsy.com
She makes the neatest hand-made cards, so check out her Etsy site.  Here are some pictures:

High Tea at the Gryphon in Savannah

Well, today I got to enjoy high tea in Savannah.  It was such a treat!  I highly recommend this tea room, the Gryphon.  It's an old pharmacy, that's been converted into a tea room, run by SCAD(Savannah College of Art and Design).  The great part of this story, is that I met this complete stranger, retired lady this past weekend, who was just visiting on vacation and she invited me to go for high tea with her in Savannah.  I jumped at the opportunity to go, since I hadn't been there yet, and I don't have any girlfriends here, since I am new to the area.
So, it was lovely.  My new friend, was super nice and told me all about her travels around the world.  She is one brave lady!  I admire her bravery for traveling alone to places she desires to go.  I love meeting new people, all friends were once strangers!
